Dr. Ndindi Kitonga (Click name for Bio)
For this session, we will work towards a deeper understanding of the ways identity, systems of oppression, and schooling intersect so that we can develop a repertoire of reflective, analytical, and practical strategies to use in your ongoing work as teaching artists.
Topics of discussion include understanding identity & difference, power & systems of oppression, community-building, allyship, decolonizing and anti-oppressive pedagogies. Because teaching artists are often working in informal, non-traditional under-resourced spaces, we will also discuss research-based, creative, affordable and community-minded ways to build and sustain robust arts-based programs.
